Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Complex Aviation Claims Specialist to join a growing Claims organization. This individual will be responsible for investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and resolving complex aviation liability and property claims. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical claims background, excellent coverage analysis skills, and experience managing high-exposure and litigated aviation losses.

This is an excellent opportunity for a claims professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and has the ability to independently manage a complex caseload while delivering exceptional service to insureds, brokers, attorneys, and other business partners.

Compensation:
  • $120,000 - $170,000/year (based on experience) + bonus opportunities

Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of complex aviation claims from initial notice of loss through resolution.
  • Investigate and evaluate aviation-related liability and property claims, including high-severity and catastrophic losses.
  • Analyze insurance policies, coverage forms, endorsements, exclusions, and applicable regulations to determine coverage.
  • Establish appropriate reserves and continuously evaluate exposure throughout the life of each claim.
  • Coordinate and manage relationships with insureds, brokers, attorneys, adjusters, aviation experts, and other vendors.
  • Direct defense counsel and actively manage litigated claims and related legal expenses.
  • Evaluate liability, damages, and potential recovery opportunities.
  • Negotiate settlements within assigned authority levels and recommend settlement strategies for larger or more complex matters.
  • Prepare clear and comprehensive claim file documentation and communicate significant developments to management and stakeholders.
  • Participate in mediations, settlement conferences, and other claim resolution activities as needed.
  • Identify potential coverage, underwriting, reserving, and risk management trends based on claim activity.
  • Ensure claims are handled in accordance with company guidelines, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and relevant claims experience.
  • 5+ years of commercial casualty, specialty, or aviation claims experience, with a strong preference for direct aviation claims experience.
  • Demonstrated experience handling complex, high-exposure, and litigated claims.
  • Strong knowledge of aviation liability and/or aviation property insurance coverage.
  • Experience analyzing complex policy language and coverage issues.
  • Proven ability to manage defense counsel, outside experts, and other third-party vendors.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, investigation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple complex claims while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Professional claims designations such as AIC, CPCU, ARM, or SCLA are a plus.
