Job Title: Associate Attorney | Medical Malpractice Defense

Location: Atlanta, GA 30329

Salary/Payrate: 150K + depending on experience with performance bonus & benefits

Work Environment: Hybrid - first 90 days onsite and then WFH availability 

Term: Fulltime

Job Description:

Our law firm client in Atlanta, GA is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join its growing Medical Malpractice Defense practice. The firm offers an excellent work-life balance, a collaborative environment, and the opportunity to work alongside experienced trial attorneys on complex, high-exposure matters.

The firm is open to attorneys with a range of experience levels and backgrounds. At least 3 years of defense-side litigation experience is required, with experience in medical malpractice, professional liability, healthcare litigation, or insurance defense preferred. This is an excellent opportunity for an insurance defense attorney looking to expand into medical malpractice.



Key Responsibilities

  • Defend physicians, hospitals, healthcare professionals, and other clients in medical malpractice and professional liability matters
  • Manage cases from inception through resolution, including discovery, depositions, motions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery
  • Take and defend depositions, including depositions of medical professionals and expert witnesses
  • Review and analyze medical records and work closely with expert witnesses
  • Participate in hearings, mediations, and court appearances
  • Develop litigation strategies and evaluate liability, damages, and overall case exposure
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding case strategy, developments, and risk

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Licensed and in good standing with the Georgia Bar
  • 3+ years of defense-side litigation experience required
  • Medical malpractice, professional liability, healthcare litigation, or insurance defense experience preferred
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
  • Deposition and courtroom experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple matters while maintaining strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
