Both In House Attorneys and Corporate Counsel typically hold a JD and are employed directly by a company. They work within the company's legal department, handling legal matters related to business operations. While the terms are often used interchangeably, 'Corporate Counsel' is more common in large corporations, whereas 'In House Attorney' is a broader term that can include various legal roles within a company.

What are some common challenges faced by in house attorneys compared to those in law firms?

In-house attorneys often encounter the challenge of balancing legal risk with business objectives, as they must provide practical, timely advice that aligns with company goals. They may also represent the company in negotiations, handle employment issues, and coordinate with outside counsel for specialized matters. In-house attorneys play a key role in protecting the company's interests and ensuring legal compliance across all operations.
