Advanced Home is a premier smart home integration company serving Minnesota homeowners with custom technology solutions including home theaters, whole home audio, lighting control, motorized shades, networking, security systems, surveillance cameras, and home automation.

We are seeking an experienced Lead Smart Home & AV Installation Technician to join our growing team. This position is ideal for a motivated professional who enjoys working directly with clients, leading installation projects, and delivering exceptional technology experiences in luxury residential environments.

Position Summary

The Lead Installation Technician is responsible for overseeing and performing the installation, configuration, and commissioning of residential technology systems. This role requires strong technical skills, leadership abilities, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer experiences.


Responsibilities

  • Lead residential smart home and AV installations from rough-in through final commissioning
  • Install and configure home theaters, distributed audio systems, televisions, projectors, surveillance cameras, security systems, networking equipment, lighting control systems, and motorized shades
  • Supervise and mentor installation technicians on project sites
  • Read and interpret construction plans, wiring diagrams, and system documentation
  • Install and terminate low voltage cabling including Cat6, speaker wire, fiber optic, and control wiring
  • Program and troubleshoot integrated systems including Sonos, Lutron, Alarm.com, networking equipment, and home automation platforms
  • Perform equipment rack assembly, cable management, and system labeling to company standards
  • Conduct system testing, quality control inspections, and client demonstrations
  • Coordinate with homeowners, builders, electricians, and project managers throughout the installation process
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and daily progress updates

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in residential AV, smart home integration, low voltage, security, networking, or related fields
  • Strong understanding of low voltage wiring and installation best practices
  • Experience with home networking including routers, switches, wireless access points, and internet troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with systems such as Lutron, Sonos, Alarm.com, Control4, Josh AI, URC, or similar platforms is preferred
  • Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and construction documents
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work on ladders, attics, and construction sites
