Job Description
The Senior AV Technician is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of audiovisual systems in various settings, including corporate environments, educational institutions, and event spaces. This role requires extensive knowledge of AV technology, system integration, and client interaction, as well as the ability to lead projects, mentor junior technicians, and ensure that all installations meet the highest industry standards.
Responsibilities
  • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Installation & Configuration:
    โ€ข Install, configure, and test AV equipment such as projectors, displays, sound systems, control systems, and video conferencing solutions.
    โ€ข Set up and calibrate AV systems to ensure optimal performance.
    โ€ข Run and terminate various types of cables, including HDMI, Cat6, and fiber optics.
    Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
    โ€ข Diagnose and resolve technical issues with AV systems, including signal flow problems, connectivity issues, and equipment failures.
    โ€ข Perform regular maintenance and updates on AV equipment to ensure long-term reliability.
    โ€ข Provide technical support during events, presentations, and meetings.
    Lead Project:
    โ€ข Lead AV installation projects with the assistance of technicians and associate technicians.
    โ€ข Provided daily duties to each technician involved in the project.
    โ€ข Coordinate with site manager and other team members to ensure project deadlines and quality standards are met.
    โ€ข Document project progress daily to site manager, including system configurations, wiring diagrams changes (redlines), and installation notes.
    Client Interaction & Training:
    โ€ข Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on site during installation and support phases in the site manager's absence.
    โ€ข Provide a knowledge transfer to clients and end-users on the operation of AV systems. (In depth training to be provided by Presales upon request)
    Mentorship & Team Leadership:
    โ€ข Mentor and train associate technicians, providing guidance on best practices, troubleshooting techniques, and system installation.
    โ€ข Assist in developing standard operating procedures for AV installations and maintenance.

Skills/Qualifications
  • QUALIFICATIONS:
    Education & Experience:
    โ€ข High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certifications or a degree in a related field is preferred.
    โ€ข Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial AV installation, system integration, and troubleshooting.
    โ€ข Extensive experience with AV control systems (Crestron, AMX, Extron) and audio/video signal flow.
    Technical Skills:
    โ€ข Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting AV equipment, including projectors, displays, audio systems, video โ€ข conferencing equipment, and control systems.
    โ€ข Strong understanding of networking principles, including VLANs, IP addressing, and AV over IP technologies.
    โ€ข Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and schematics.
    Soft Skills:
    โ€ข Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on customer satisfaction.
    โ€ข Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
    โ€ข Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail.
    โ€ข Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
