This role requires a solid foundation in AV technology, hands-on troubleshooting, and a strong understanding of signal flow, AV control systems, and low-voltage infrastructure. The AV Engineer will work closely with project managers, technicians, and stakeholders to ensure high-quality, reliable AV system performance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and testing of integrated AV systems for conference rooms, event spaces, classrooms, and digital signage.
  • Install, terminate, and test low-voltage cabling for AV and network infrastructure.
  • Configure and deploy AV control systems and components including Crestron, Extron, QSC, Biamp, and Dante-enabled devices.
  • Perform system diagnostics and troubleshooting using tools such as voltmeters, network testers, and manufacturer software.
  • Support the setup, operation, and breakdown of AV systems for meetings, corporate events, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure AV installations meet client requirements and project specifications.
  • Maintain and update system documentation, schematics, and configuration records.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance, firmware updates, and performance checks on AV equipment.
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support to end users and clients.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies, industry standards, and best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in AV system integration, installation, or support.
  • Familiarity with AV signal flow, video/audio switching, and device interoperability.
  • Working knowledge of AV control and DSP platforms (e.g., Crestron, Extron, Biamp, QSC, Dante).
  • Experience with AV cabling, connectors, and structured cabling practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret AV system drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in live and test environments.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Comfortable working independently or as part of a team in field service settings.

Preferred Qualifications
  • AVIXA CTS, CTS-I, or CTS-D certification.
  • Manufacturer certifications (e.g., Crestron DMC-E, Extron EAVCP, Dante Level I/II/III).
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Visio, or Bluebeam for system drawings.
  • Understanding of IT networking principles, AV-over-IP, and enterprise AV environments.
  • Experience in corporate AV, higher education, broadcast, or event production environments.
  • Familiarity with computer hardware, video codecs, and conferencing platforms (Zoom, Teams, Webex).
