What is an AV intern?

An AV Intern is a student or entry-level professional who assists with audio-visual (AV) operations, such as setting up, operating, and maintaining equipment used for presentations, events, or broadcasts. They typically work under the supervision of experienced AV technicians or managers, gaining hands-on experience with sound systems, projectors, lighting, and video recording devices. The internship provides valuable exposure to the technical aspects of AV production and helps interns develop skills needed for a future career in the AV industry.

What types of projects and responsibilities can an AV intern expect during their internship?

As an AV Intern, you can expect to assist with the setup, operation, and breakdown of audio-visual equipment for meetings, events, and presentations. Typical responsibilities may include troubleshooting basic technical issues, organizing and inventorying AV gear, and supporting senior technicians during live events. You'll also gain hands-on experience with a variety of AV systems, such as soundboards, projectors, and video conferencing tools. This role often involves collaborating closely with IT, facilities, and event planning teams, providing a well-rounded introduction to the AV industry.
