AV Service Technician – New Jersey & New York

IMPORTANT – VEHICLE REQUIRED:

This role requires a personal vehicle. Technicians must travel to client sites across Northern and Central New Jersey, New York City, and Westchester -mileage provided

County. Many locations are not accessible via public transportation. Mileage and approved travel expenses are reimbursed.

Overview

TEKsystems is seeking a strong AV Service Technician to support a national enterprise AV integrator. This is a field service role supporting corporate customers across New Jersey and New York, with a heavy concentration of work throughout Northern New Jersey and New York City, along with coverage into Westchester County.

Service regions include Newark, Jersey City, Hoboken, Secaucus, Parsippany, Edison, and surrounding NJ markets, along with Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and White Plains. Territory typically spans a two-hour radius.

This position focuses on service, troubleshooting, system checks, and basic software adjustments — not full-scale integration work. You will be responsible for resolving AV issues in executive boardrooms, conference centers, and enterprise collaboration spaces.

Key Responsibilities

Respond to AV service tickets across corporate enterprise environments.

Perform hands-on troubleshooting of AV systems, including control interfaces, audio issues, video routing, and connectivity problems.

Diagnose AV-related network issues such as IP conflicts, connectivity problems, and basic switch concerns.

Navigate DSP platforms to review configurations, identify faults, and support audio system diagnostics — Biamp Tesira experience is highly preferred.

Navigate Crestron Toolbox for device management, diagnostics, and basic system checks.

Apply firmware updates, execute device resets, and perform configuration changes as needed.

Support AV technologies including:

  • Crestron (DM, NVX, touch panels)
  • Biamp Tesira DSP
  • Extron / AMX control platforms (basic familiarity helpful)
  • Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, Cisco endpoints
  • AV-over-IP platforms (NVX, SDVoE)
  • Displays, projectors, video walls, and switching systems

Collaborate with IT teams when network-related issues occur.

Document all service activities clearly and professionally.

Required Skills

3+ years of AV field service experience with an AV integration company.

Strong hands-on AV troubleshooting skills in live corporate environments.

Ability to navigate DSP platforms for system review and fault diagnosis — Biamp Tesira highly preferred.

Ability to navigate Crestron Toolbox for device diagnostics and basic system management.

Understanding of AV signal flow, audio/video routing, EDID, HDCP, and common AV hardware.

Basic network troubleshooting skills including IP conflicts, VLAN awareness, and basic switch support.

Comfort reading drawings, wiring schematics, and system documentation.

Soft Skills

Professional communication with corporate and executive users.

Ability to manage service tickets independently.

Calm, methodical problem-solving approach in high-visibility environments.

Customer-focused mindset with strong attention to detail.

Travel Requirements

Daily travel across New Jersey and New York, typically within a two-hour radius.

Heavy concentration of work throughout Northern and Central New Jersey and New York City.

You return home every night — no overnight travel.

Experience & Certifications (Preferred, Not Required)

CTS, CTS‑I, Biamp, Crestron, QSC, Dante, or similar AV industry certifications.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
