This role involves collaborating with technicians, engineers, and other stakeholders to produce clear, accurate, and user-friendly assembly manuals and SOS (Standard Operating Systems) that enhance operational efficiency and support the assembly process.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Write and maintain comprehensive SOS and assembly manuals for automotive restoration projects.
  • Collaborate with team members to gather technical information, diagrams, and specifications.
  • Translate complex technical processes into clear, concise, and visually engaging content.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with company standards, industry regulations, and branding guidelines.
  • Edit, proofread, and update existing documentation to reflect new processes or updates.
  • Conduct interviews with technicians and other staff to understand procedures and incorporate feedback.
  • Store information in a repository for all technical documents and manuals.
  • Assist in the development of training materials related to assembly procedures and SOS updates.
  • Manage communication plan for all documentation revisions and initial releases.
  • Identify bottlenecks in existing processes through documentation, recommend optimizations, and measure improvements via metrics like time savings or error reduction.

Required Skills and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of mechanical processes and the ability to interpret technical schematics.
  • Proficiency with documentation tools such as Microsoft Office.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines while managing multiple projects.
  • Familiarity with the automotive restoration or restomod industry.
  • Experience with creating visual aids such as diagrams, exploded views, and flowcharts.
  • Strong aptitude for leveraging AI and automation tools to enhance productivity and innovation; active use of AI in professional work is essential.
  • Demonstrated excellence in internal customer service, with a proven ability to anticipate needs, resolve issues proactively, and build strong cross-functional partnerships.

Education Background and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Proven experience as a technical writer, preferably in the automotive, aviation, or manufacturing industry.

  • Warranty Rate < 26% (Monthly) (1Q < 30, 2Q < 29%, 3Q < 28%, 4Q < 26%)
  • Time to Close Warranty < 15 days (Monthly)
  • On-Time Completion > 95% (Weekly) (Exception New Model)
  • Change Management = Implement Changes (Quarterly)

Physical Demands (To include but not limited to)
  • Prolonged periods of standing or walking around the workspace.
  • Occasionally lifting and carrying items, typically weighing up to 10-20 pounds.
  • Regularly bending, stooping, or crouching to work on vehicles at different heights.
  • Frequent use of fingers and hands for typing, writing, and operating a computer.
  • Using telephones, printers, copiers, and other office tools.
  • Frequent need to focus on printed or digital material.
  • Exposure to loud noises from power tools and machinery.
  • Working in non-climate-controlled environments, leading to exposure to heat or cold.
  • Potential exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals like solvents, oils, and paints. Proper PPE is often required.
