Job description

Berkshire Hathaway Automotive is seeking an experienced, proactive Systems Engineer to join the IT team.
The Systems Engineer is responsible for the administration, configuration, and operational support of the organization's Microsoft 365 environment. This role focuses on identity management, endpoint administration, security controls, and messaging services, working within established standards and architectures while contributing to continuous improvement, cloud migration efforts, and Tier-3 escalation support.
This position is full time and will be onsite at our Headquarters in Irving, Texas.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Identity & Access Management (Entra ID)
  • Administer Microsoft Entra ID users, groups, roles, and licensing
  • Implement and maintain Conditional Access policies, MFA, and identity security controls
  • Lead and support Active Directory to Entra ID and hybrid identity migrations
  • Monitor audit logs and sign-in activity and respond to identity-related issues

Endpoint & Device Management (Intune)
  • Administer Windows, and mobile devices through Microsoft Intune
  • Maintain device compliance policies, configuration profiles, and update rings
  • Support device enrollment processes including Autopilot and MDM/MAM
  • Troubleshoot endpoint compliance, configuration, and access issues

Security & Compliance
  • Support administration of Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Defender for Office 365
  • Implement security recommendations to improve Microsoft Secure Score
  • Assist with configuration of DLP, retention, and sensitivity labeling policies
  • Verify backup processes and support recovery testing activities

Messaging & Collaboration (Exchange Online)
  • Administer Exchange Online mailboxes, permissions, and delegation -
  • Assist with the decommissioning of Hybrid Exchange components and support the transition to a fully cloud-managed Exchange Online environment.
  • Monitor mail flow, spam and phishing protections, and perform message tracing
  • Support compliance features such as mailbox auditing and eDiscovery
  • Resolve escalated messaging issues and document resolutions

Operations & Escalations
  • Serve as a Tier-2/Tier-3 escalation resource for Microsoft 365 issues
  • Perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions
  • Maintain operational documentation and standard procedures
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and security teams on improvements and projects

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
  • Experience administering Microsoft 365 in a production environment
  • Working knowledge of Entra ID, Intune, Hybrid Exchange, Exchange Online, and Microsoft security tools
  • Experience with Active Directory and Hybrid Exchange environments
  • Strong troubleshooting and incident resolution skills
  • Ability to follow established architecture and security standards

Preferred:
  • Microsoft certifications such as SC-300, MD-102, or MS-102
  • Basic scripting or automation experience (PowerShell)
  • Exposure to security frameworks or compliance requirements
  • Experience supporting cloud migration or modernization projects (on-prem to cloud)
