We are seeking a Functional Safety Manager to guide safety efforts for developing the next generation of safe, AI-powered autonomous driving systems. In this role, you will focus on solving hard cross-disciplinary problems across AI, computer vision, software architecture, planning and control, software / hardware interactions, and be part of a team that covers the entire autonomous driving system and coordinates development teams across NVIDIA.

What you will be doing:

  • Leading execution of safety engineering processes to meet ISO 26262, ISO 21448 and ISO 8800 standards, with timely safety case completion

  • Promoting a positive safety culture and deployment of organizational processes by providing training, mentoring and tailoring

  • Acting as the primary point of contact for all safety related concerns during development and actively working to resolve identified issues

  • Collaborating with OEM and Tier1 partners to ensure that all aspects of the joint safety engineering development are carried out on time and according to plan

What we need to see:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred

  • At least 8 years of proven experience in automotive development and integration for safety related systems

  • Possess a deep understanding of functional safety and development processes needed to follow the ISO 26262 functional safety standard

  • A working knowledge of quality systems and tools, such as Automotive SPICE and IATF 16949

  • Application of system safety methodologies & practices, including FMEA, FTA, FMEDA, CPA

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • We look for strong engineers who thrive working in teams, and working across multiple domains

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Experience leading safety management efforts for production of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) or autonomous vehicle systems

  • Experience in the application of ISO 21488 (SOTIF) in combination with functional safety

  • Solid understanding of V&V of complex safety-critical system

  • Software development and/or machine learning experience.

Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The base salary range is 168,000 USD - 258,750 USD for Level 4, and 200,000 USD - 322,000 USD for Level 5.

You will also be eligible for equity and benefits.
