Tomorrow's most advanced automotive technology is being envisioned today at MOBIS Parts America (MPA). A subsidiary of Hyundai MOBIS, we are a top leading automotive parts supplier. MPA provides after-sales service parts support for Hyundai Motors, Kia Motors, and Genesis. In addition to the distribution of genuine service parts, the MPA Accessories division develops accessories for Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis - which are installed on new vehicles in the United States and Canada.
Description
JOB PURPOSE
Engineer is responsible for reviewing early-stage vehicle CAD, electrical schematics and other information to conduct feasibility studies to ensure accessories under proposal will be compatible. Assist in creating vehicle change requests based on conducted review for submission to H/KMC R&D. This position is also responsible for preparing and organizing vehicle 3D CAD data to be sent to suppliers for accessory programs. Position is responsible for creation of accessory development parts design demand specifications for each new projects to be released to suppliers during RFQ process. In addition, the position is responsible for reviewing all supplier submitted 2D/3D drawings/data to ensure submitted drawings meet MPA requirements. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • On-time review/creation of parts design and demand specification.
  • Review of early vehicle data and technical information to conduct feasibility studies for upcoming accessories.
  • Organizing and preparing vehicle 3D CAD data to be sent to suppliers.
  • Responsible for creation of change requests for submission to HKMC/MHQ R&D.
  • Ensure all supplier 2D/3D data meets MPA guidelines.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for this position are on-time feasibility studies as well as on-time part design demand specifications and on-time creation of engineering design guides.
  • Work with external and internal resources in defining engineering requirements for new products.
  • Conduct early review of vehicle data to determine accessory feasibility.
  • Review submitted 2D/3D drawings to ensure MPA requirements are met
  • Creation of accessory development parts design demand specifications for RFQ.
WORK SCHEDULE/TRAVEL
  • 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.
MAJOR CHALLENGES AND KEY DECISIONS
Requires a high level of communication ability to convey engineering requirements to suppliers & customers. Also, must be able to communicate across cultures as the position will require frequent communication with overseas staff.
Required Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor in Engineering is required.
  • Automotive accessory development experience preferred
  • Experience with automotive electrical systems preferred
  • Familiarity with truck/suv off-roading & related vehicle accessories as it relates to installation requirements both internally and externally.

SKILLS
  • Proficient computer skills: e-mail, record keeping, database, word processing, spreadsheets, CAD
  • CATIA V5 assembly manipulation and product analysis ability preferred
  • Electrical schematic familiarity
  • GD&T knowledge
