Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The Service Engineer 4 sets the technical standard for customer-facing warranty improvement and root cause identification across field quality, service, installation/startup, repair, and training activities within the assigned function. This role serves as a senior technical expert responsible for advanced vehicle system-level testing, data acquisition, hypothesis development, and data analysis to identify complex warranty concerns and strengthen diagnostic capability.
The position provides high-level technical guidance, mentors team members, and collaborates cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to improve processes, diagnostic strategies, and overall service performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Establish and support technical standards for warranty improvement activities and root cause identification across service engineering functions.
  • Utilize advanced data analysis and visualization techniques to analyze large datasets and identify trends related to warranty performance and field quality concerns.
  • Prepare and present technical reports and findings to internal and external customers using advanced vehicle system knowledge.
  • Develop technical hypotheses from complex data and engineering information to determine root causes of warranty issues.
  • Perform vehicle testing, instrumentation setup, data acquisition, and analysis to evaluate system-level performance and failure modes.
  • Develop next-level service strategies and coach team members on implementation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead and support cross-functional investigations involving Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, Quality, and customer organizations.
  • Negotiate and support warranty cost recovery discussions with customers when required.
  • Develop new investigative methodologies, analytics models, and diagnostic frameworks when existing processes are insufficient.
  • Standardize best practices, technical procedures, and departmental diagnostic strategies to improve efficiency and performance.
  • Mentor and train colleagues to strengthen technical capability within the team.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field
  • 8+ years of technical automotive experience in Vehicle systems diagnostics, service engineering, field quality engineering or related

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Strong analytical capability using mathematical and computational techniques to analyze large datasets.
  • Advanced vehicle component and system diagnostic knowledge.
  • Ability to perform data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation for complex technical issues.
  • Effective presentation and communication skills with internal and external customers, including executive-level audiences.
  • Working knowledge of automotive regulations such as NHTSA and FMVSS requirements.
  • Leadership capability to coordinate multi-functional technical projects involving DENSO and OEM partners.
