Job description

Our Marine organization is a trusted provider of innovative solutions for the worldwide boating and boat building industry, and we recently expanded our scope to lead the boating industry into an electrified future. Dometic has won numerous NMMA Innovation Awards over the years, and we are always striving for new ways to make boating easier, safer, and more enjoyable.
Dometic Marine's facility in Sparta, TN produces roto-molded fuel and ballast tanks and other roto-molded products for industrial applications. The site also manufactures select marine furniture, aluminum tanks, blow-molded portable tanks, and sanitation systems.
We are on a journey of continuous growth - now looking for our next star - a passionate Manufacturing Engineering Manager. This position reports to the Director of Operations and will work in Sparta, TN.
About the position
As Manufacturing Engineering Manager of the Sparta team, you will be involved in overseeing the development and implementation of the production processes to maintain and improve product functionality. Ensure that the Manufacturing Engineering team works closely with other departments to ensure products meet proper specifications.
Your Main Responsibilities
  • Direct the Manufacturing Engineering team to meet site/company objectives concerning production
  • Develop requirements, budgets, and plans for manufacturing and automation processes and equipment
  • Utilize engineering tools and experience to drive the development of world class manufacturing systems to support new product introductions, continuous improvement opportunities, and automation initiatives.
  • Maintain the costing standards used in all operations
  • Work with all departments to resolve spec, drawing, routing, BOM, and costing issues
  • Assist in product costing as needed
  • Modify existing processes to suit the needs of new products
  • Lead and advocate best practices and look for continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Manage departmental KPI's and implement tools for improvement
  • Coordinate project activities, resource planning, estimate project times and costs.
  • Mentor, recognize talent, match talent and tasks, promote people growth, etc.
  • Encourage group discussions, collaboration, teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Direct Engineering team in creation of production documents (PFMEA's, Work Instructions, etc)
  • Facilitate workshops with cross-functional technical team to improve processes
  • Mentor/Coach Engineering team, and administer appraisals
  • Assist with value stream mapping and future state planning

Skills & Requirements
A suitable background would be a solid experience within manufacturing and engineering as well as the following qualifications and experiences:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline (Mechanical, Industrial, etc.), Master's degree preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Ability to prepare and forecast budgets
  • Well-developed organizational skills with the ability to manage a variety of tasks.
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office programs including: Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint; and the ability to learn other applications quickly.
  • Self-starter and "Can do" attitude a must!
