RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Salt Lake City, UT that is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to play a key role in designing, building, and supporting modern cloud infrastructure and platform services.
Summary:
This individual will partner with engineering teams to deliver scalable, secure, and highly available solutions while driving automation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across cloud environments.
This is a senior-level technical position that combines cloud architecture, DevOps practices, infrastructure automation, and platform engineering. The ideal candidate is passionate about solving complex technical challenges, mentoring teammates, and leveraging emerging technologies, including AI-enabled solutions, to improve productivity and system performance.
Responsibilities:
* Design, implement, and support cloud-based infrastructure and platform services in AWS
* Build and maintain automation solutions for infrastructure provisioning, application deployments, and operational workflows
* Develop and improve CI/CD processes to increase deployment speed and reliability
* Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions to ensure system health and performance
* Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, application, and platform issues in production environments
* Drive improvements in scalability, availability, security, and operational efficiency
* Manage and optimize cloud resource utilization and costs
* Partner closely with software engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver technology solutions
* Lead technical initiatives and provide guidance on cloud engineering best practices
* Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth of the engineering team
* Evaluate and implement AI-powered tools and automation technologies to improve operational effectiveness
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
* 7+ years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, infrastructure engineering, or related disciplines
* 3+ years of hands-on experience supporting AWS cloud environments
* Strong experience with Kubernetes and containerized applications
* Advanced Linux administration and troubleshooting skills
* Experience developing automation and scripting solutions using Python, Bash, or similar languages
* Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
* Expertise with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
* Strong understanding of cloud architecture, networking, security, and high-availability design principles
* Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as CloudWatch, Dynatrace, Nagios, Grafana, or similar tools
* Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical and business teams
* Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
* 8+ years supporting Linux-based systems in enterprise environments
* 4+ years of Kubernetes administration and platform engineering experience
* Experience working within Agile, DevOps, or ITIL-based organizations
* Experience with Git workflows and modern software delivery practices
* Knowledge of container orchestration, virtualization, and modern platform engineering concepts
* Experience implementing AI-enabled automation, developer productivity tools, or generative AI solutions
* Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor engineers

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
