JOB TITLE: Technical Sales – Automotive & Medical Laser Plastics Welding Systems

EMPLOYER: LPKF Laser & Electronics

DEPARTMENT: Welding – Automotive and Medical Sectors

REPORTS TO: Sales Director – North America

EFFECTIVE DATE: 5/26/2026


LPKF North America is seeking a driven and results-oriented Technical Sales Associate to identify, develop, and close new laser systems sales and business opportunities while expanding our presence within the laser plastic welding market. This role will focus on the Automotive and Medical manufacturing sectors, with an emphasis on high-value capital equipment sales.


The ideal candidate will build and manage strong customer relationships throughout the entire sales cycle from prospecting and technical consultation through quotation, negotiation, and successful project completion. Working closely with engineering, sales, and executive leadership teams, this position plays a key role in driving strategic growth and market expansion across North America.


This position reports directly to the Sales Director – North America and offers a competitive base salary plus quarterly commission.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities within automotive and medical manufacturing markets.
  • Develop and deliver sales presentations for highly engineered production equipment and technical solutions.
  • Execute business development strategies through market research, cold outreach, lead qualification, and account development.
  • Expand business with new and existing customers by advancing and closing sales opportunities.
  • Coordinate with sales and marketing teams to support promotional and online marketing activities.
  • Attend customer visits, trade shows, conferences, and industry events; provide follow-up reporting and analysis.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and emerging applications within target industries.
  • Provide pricing, technical information, proposals, and application support to customers.
  • Maintain accurate sales activity, customer communications, and opportunity tracking within the company CRM system.
  • Communicate regularly with leadership regarding sales pipeline, forecasts, and account activity.
  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 25% as required for customer visits, trade shows, conferences, and training.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience in equipment sales for automotive and/or medical parts production environments.
  • Proven track record of developing and managing customer relationships in manufacturing industries.
  • Strong understanding of production equipment, automation systems, and industrial processes.
  • Experience identifying customer needs and delivering tailored equipment solutions.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support customers and business development activities.
