Automation Technician – Food & Beverage

Location: Torrance, CA
Compensation: $72,000–$93,000/year

Build the Future of Spirits Manufacturing

Our client is developing advanced processing technology that is changing how spirits are produced. This is a hands-on opportunity to operate automated production equipment, troubleshoot process systems, and help improve manufacturing operations as the company scales.

If you enjoy working with automation, HMIs, sensors, mechanical and electrical systems, and production equipment, this role gives you direct ownership of the equipment and process.

What You'll Do

  • Operate automated spirits processing equipment for blending, proofing, transfers, filtration, and CIP/cleaning
  • Run production batches using HMI recipes, setpoints, and defined operating parameters
  • Monitor equipment and process readings and make adjustments within established limits
  • Troubleshoot alarms, fault codes, sensors, and equipment issues in real time
  • Perform hands-on production activities including hose and valve routing, connections, changeovers, filter swaps, and basic resets
  • Execute CIP and cleaning procedures to maintain sanitary, production-ready equipment
  • Complete preventive maintenance checklists and identify issues requiring maintenance support
  • Document production runs, alarms, troubleshooting actions, and outcomes
  • Work with maintenance, vendors, and controls support to resolve equipment issues
  • Identify opportunities to reduce downtime, improve reliability, and stabilize production

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of experience in automated manufacturing with a related technical degree/certification, or 5+ years of similar experience without a technical degree
  • Experience in food, beverage, spirits, CPG, chemical, pharmaceutical, or similar manufacturing
  • Packaging experience with bottling or canning equipment
  • Experience operating automated equipment through HMIs
  • Ability to interpret alarms, fault codes, sensors, and basic system readings
  • Hands-on troubleshooting experience with mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems
  • Strong documentation and recordkeeping skills
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in a production environment

Nice to Have

  • PLC programming experience
  • Distilled spirits production experience
  • Experience with automated process equipment and batch manufacturing
