Onsite work location

This is a full-time, onsite position located at our Calgary Branch (#10411080 50th Street SE, Calgary, AB T2C 5T4). Regular working hours are Monday to Friday, totalling 40 hours per week.

About the role

We are currently seeking to fill a Technical Inside Sales role in our Process Instrumentation, Automation, & Controls division for our Calgary branch. They are responsible for building positive relationships with customers by generating accurate quotations, supporting documentation, and sales orders. Technical Inside Sales works closely with the PAC Territory Manager, Business Developers, and supports branch locations to provide excellent customer service, prevent potential customer issues, and monitor ongoing projects.

  • Customer Service. You will receive a high volume of quote requests and customer inquiries. Therefore, the ability to engage with customers and build strong relationships in a professional manner is vital.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration. You will collaborate with vendors, manufacturers, and internal branch staff to provide expertise and support order processing.
  • Solution-Oriented. You will communicate with customers to determine appropriate solutions for troubleshooting, pricing, and product mix. This also includes managing vendor documentation and certifications.
  • Technical Expertise. Demonstrated technical knowledge with a hands-on interest in process, instrumentation, automation, and controls.
  • Problem Solver. You are an innovative problem solver who is flexible, adaptable, and positive.

Ideal candidate profile

  • Diploma in a technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong customer service experience.
  • Technical knowledge of the products and services provided by E.B. Horsman & Son.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn new software and systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Strong negotiation, networking, relationship-building, planning, organizing, problem-solving, and results-oriented skills.
  • Exposure to and knowledge of process instrumentation is considered an asset.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites, supplier locations, and training sessions as required.
  • Ability to meet time-sensitive project deadlines.
