Job description

BTM Company is seeking a Senior Electrician to join our manufacturing team in Marysville, Michigan. This position is responsible for building, wiring, troubleshooting, and supporting electrical systems used in custom industrial automation equipment and machinery.

Michigan Journeyman or Master Electrician License preferred, but not required. Candidates with significant industrial electrical experience supporting manufacturing equipment and high-voltage systems will be considered.

Position Overview

The Senior Electrician assembles and wires electrical panels, installs electrical components on machinery, and supports machine startup, troubleshooting, commissioning, and installation. This role also provides leadership and mentorship to apprentices and junior electricians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble, layout, and wire electrical control panels from schematics and prints
  • Install and wire electrical components on custom automation equipment and machinery
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and fluid diagrams
  • Troubleshoot electrical, PLC, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Support machine debug, testing, commissioning, and startup activities
  • Ensure wiring and components meet job specifications and quality standards
  • Record and communicate print changes and redlines
  • Collaborate with controls engineering, mechanical engineering, and machine build teams
  • Assist with machine teardown, labeling, and preparation for shipment
  • Support customer installation and service work as required
  • Lead and mentor apprentices and junior electricians
  • Follow all company safety procedures and QMS requirements

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of industrial electrician or machine wiring experience
  • Experience with industrial automation equipment preferred
  • Strong understanding of: PLC systems, Industrial electrical systems, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Control panel wiring, Machine wiring
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Willingness to travel periodically for installation and service work
  • Hi-lo/Forklift experience preferred (training available)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Electrical apprenticeship, associate degree, or related technical training preferred
