Job description

Summary: 

The Manager Development Accounting and Controls is responsible for leading accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls activities for RES Americas development businesses across the U.S. and Canada. This role serves as the key finance partner to development teams, supports month-end and year-end reporting cycles, and drives process improvement and ERP system governance.

Requirements: 

  • Lead and oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of financial reporting across development entities
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statements, ensuring compliance with IFRS and internal reporting standards
  • Analyze and adjust income statement activity to ensure consistent and accurate financial presentation across development portfolios
  • Serve as the technical accounting lead for development activities, providing guidance on complex topics including revenue recognition, capitalization of development costs, impairment, leases, and financial instruments
  • Develop and document accounting positions and policies, ensuring they are audit-ready, consistently applied, and aligned with corporate standards
  • Identify and communicate key differences between IFRS and US GAAP, supporting both internal and external reporting requirements
  • Act as the primary accounting partner for development transactions, supporting project teams from due diligence through deal execution
  • Oversee financial reporting and accounting for special purpose entities (SPVs), including intercompany activity and balance sheet management
  • Support revenue recognition decisions and milestone invoicing processes, ensuring alignment with contractual and audit requirements
  • Lead audit readiness efforts, ensuring documentation, reconciliations, and supporting schedules are maintained to a high standard
  • Coordinate and support external audits, tax credit audits, and regulatory reviews, partnering with internal tax and finance teams
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Act as a subject matter expert for ERP systems (IFS), supporting financial data integrity, project setup, and reporting accuracy
  • Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and system enhancements to increase efficiency and scalability
  • Support system governance, including chart of accounts, coding structures, and workflow design
  • Serve as the primary finance partner to development leaders, project managers, and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Collaborate with FP&A, tax, legal, and operations teams to support forecasting, budgeting, and strategic decision-making
  • Provide financial insight and guidance to ensure sound business decisions and alignment with financial objectives
  • Manage and develop direct reports, including goal setting, performance management, and career development
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence within the accounting team
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and team capability building as the organization grows

Safety: 

  • Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action. Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Master's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • CPA or equivalent certification preferred
  • 5+ years of accounting experience
  • 2+ years of IFRS accounting experience required
  • 2+ years of Management or Supervisory experience
  • Hands-on experience with IFS or a comparable ERP system preferred
  • Renewable energy or infrastructure experience preferred
  • Functional Competencies include accountability, attention to detail, prioritization, continuous improvement, ethics & integrity

Anticipated base salary range: $102,500 - $128,100 

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
