Position Overview
The Controls Support Technician provides onsite technical support for automated material handling systems in warehouse and distribution center environments. This role troubleshoots, maintains, and supports PLC-controlled automation equipment while working closely with customers, software developers, and cross-functional teams to maximize system uptime, reliability, and operational performance.
Essential Functions
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and support Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Material Flow Systems (MFS), and automation equipment, including sensors, scanners, motors, frequency inverters, encoders, and visualization systems.
  • Diagnose system faults and production issues through root cause analysis, system testing, and corrective actions to restore equipment operation and minimize downtime.
  • Monitor system performance, analyze operational reports, and identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and overall system performance.
  • Collaborate with onsite personnel, software developers, customers, and global support teams to resolve technical issues, communicate system status, and ensure continuous system operation.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, help-desk tickets, and technical records while developing training materials and providing technical guidance to internal teams and customers.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and relevant technical experience.
  • Experience supporting PLCs, Siemens S7 PLCs, or .NET-based automation systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial automation equipment, including conveyors, automated cranes, packaging systems, and drive technologies.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication networks such as Ethernet, AS-i, and PROFIBUS.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or EPLAN is preferred.

This position is schedule for 12am - 8am weekdays with being on call every other week from 4pm - 12am
