Job description

Nashville Tent & Awning is seeking an experienced AutoCAD Designer/Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in an design to production environment and a proven track record of producing accurate, detailed drawings for custom products.  Industry experience around awnings or canopies design/manufacturing is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Create, modify, and maintain technical drawings and designs using AutoCAD for  tents, awnings, canopies, and related fabric structures
  • Develop detailed cutting patterns, frame layouts, and hardware schematics based on project specifications
  • Collaborate with sales, production, and project managers to translate customer requirements into manufacturable designs
  • Review and revise drawings based on feedback and project changes
  • Maintain organized documentation and version control of all design files and patterns  
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards and codes
  • Support production team by clarifying drawings and resolving design-related issues on the shop floor

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3+ years of professional experience using AutoCAD
  • Proven experience in design/engineering drafting
  • Experience in tent, awning, fabric structures, or related industries (sail-making, marine canvas, tensile structures) preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, blueprints, and requirements
  • Understanding of basic structural/engineering principles related to fabric and frame structures (a plus)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD software (additional CAD software experience a plus)
