Description

Department: Body Shop

Functions: Responsible for writing estimates and selling service. Provide firm customer satisfaction. Contribute to Body Shop's profitability. Manage Direct Repair Programs (DRP) to insurance companies that are assigned to you. Maintain good relations with customers, insurance company, and other departments.

Relationship: Reports to Body Shop Manager. Works in cooperation with Body Shop technicians.

Responsibility and Authority:

Customer Satisfaction:

  • Satisfy all customer with whom Estimator does business.
  • Resolve customer complaints in a swift, professional, and courteous manner. 
  • Build clientele for the dealership.
  • Set clear standards for customer treatment.
  • Build, train, and maintain a body shop organization that ensures customer satisfaction.

Service:

  • Ensure profitability of the body shop through the sale of high quality service.
  • Keep abreast of all local, state, and federal laws pertaining to the body shop department.
  • Assist all technicians in the complete of correct repair procedures the first time.
  • Set and maintain daily goals to ensure body shop team performance.
  • Responsible for maintaining all communications with the customer during the repair process.
  • Keep body shop manager aware of any equipment that needs to be repaired.

Insurance Direct Repair Programs (DRP):

  • Satisfy all insurance companies with whom Estimator does business.
  • Project an organized and well manager business to insurance companies.
  • Write estimate/repair orders in accordance to each insurance company profile.
  • Work with technicians to get vehicles disassembled for proper estimates.
  • Grow business with existing DRP's.
  • Look for opportunities to add new DRP's.

Human Resource, Training and Development:

  • Attend appropriate Estimator seminars.
  • Maintain a level of training and knowledge in order to stay current in body shop field.

Interdepartmental Relations:

  • Assist other departments to correct customer problems.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationship with other departments to reduce conflict and maintain dealer profitability.
  • Assist sales department in the sale of new and used vehicles.

Requirements

Qualifications:

High school diploma or the equivalent. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. Sales and supervisory experience preferred. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Professional personal appearance and excellent communication skills. Computer skills needed. Experience in the automotive industry is desired. 


Working Conditions:

The estimator works both indoors and out.  May need to go on test drives. Will work on a computer at a desk, but also may need to be in the shop area. May be exposed to heat, cold, noise, dust, exhaust fumes and other potentially hazardous materials.
