Job Summary

The Collections Specialist works with customers who have delinquent auto loan accounts to secure payments or payment commitments and establish appropriate repayment arrangements. The role requires clear communication, effective negotiation, accurate account documentation, and consistent adherence to collection laws and company policies while maintaining a professional customer experience.

The ideal candidate can manage a high volume of inbound and outbound calls, remain professional during difficult conversations, document account activity accurately, and consistently work toward established performance goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage an assigned portfolio of delinquent auto loan accounts
  • Contact customers by phone, email, and written correspondence.
  • Secure payments or payment commitments, establish repayment arrangements, resolving payment discrepancies and disputes.
  • Document account activity accurately and escalate accounts when necessary.
  • Provide professional, empathetic service
  • Meet performance metrics
  • Follow company policies and all applicable state and federal debt collection laws, including the FDCPA.

Qualifications & Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in collections, customer service, call center, loan servicing, or sales preferred but we will teach the right candidate
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Ability to negotiate and problem-solve effectively
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and account management systems
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, metric-driven collections department
  • Ability to listen, speak, and enter data simultaneously
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred (may be required based on business needs)
