State National, a Markel Company, is seeking a reliable and detailoriented Auto Damage Appraiser to join our highperforming Claims team. This deskbased role is responsible for assessing vehicle damage, investigating loss details, reviewing repair estimates, and preparing accurate appraisal documentation. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical judgment, professionalism, and the ability to provide fair, unbiased evaluations while working directly with policyholders, other carriers and internal partners.Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct virtual vehicle inspections to assess physical damage and verify loss details.
  • Interact professionally with policyholders, other carriers, legal counsel, underwriters, and internal teams.
  • Prepare and submit accurate appraisal reports detailing findings, repair recommendations, and cost evaluations.
  • Review repair estimates and validate parts, labor, and required documentation.
  • Confirm coverage, interpret policy terms, and follow corporate claimshandling guidelines.
  • Utilize recognized estimating platforms (e.g., CCC Pathways) to produce accurate repair or totalloss assessments.
  • Maintain compliance with state regulations, insurance laws, and company procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of auto physical damage appraisal experience.
  • Experience using industrystandard estimating platforms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required state adjuster/appraiser licenses.
  • Ability to lift/carry 30lbs if necessary
Preferred Qualifications
  • CCC Pathways estimating platform experience.
  • ICAR certification.
  • Experience handling both firstparty and thirdparty auto claims.
  • Ability to work extended hours when required to meet operational needs.
