Job description

A Hertz Damage Appraiser is responsible for accurately assessing damage to Hertz vehicles and preparing detailed reports of their findings utilizing knowledge from VALE national or industry experience. The Damage Appraiser should have extensive experience working with vehicles and a strong attention to detail. They must be able to recognize and identify different types of damage and be familiar with the Hertz fleet. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently.

A Day in the Life:

Body damage appraisers will review and make vehicle repair recommendation decisions based on company standards and policies. They will work closely with our vendor repair network to ensure vehicles are being repaired with high quality and in a timely manner. Body damage appraisers will also work directly with our field personnel on the processing and moving of vehicles. Appraisers throughout the day will also work vendor payments and ensure timely processing of repair invoices. 

The hourly rate for this opportunity is $24/hr.

What You'll Do:

  • Review, evaluate and approve vehicle damage estimates
  • Responsible for the communication with vendors on estimates for repairs and reviewing all incoming damaged vehicles.
  • Utilizes Hertz systems as well as damage estimating software to evaluate damaged vehicles.
  • Collaborates with internal field departments, finance, and maintenance teams as well as external partners and body shops. 
  • Manages BD shops on a daily basis for current repairs and addresses any delays
  • Creates cost reductions through accurate estimate review and collaboration with repair network.

  • VALE National Certified or equivalent work experience with body damage evaluation either from the insurance or repair side
  • Computer proficiency across systems such as Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Willingness/ ability to learn internal systems and use multiple at once to solve problems.
  • Moderate proficiency in Microsoft suite and oracle products
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across multiple functions and locations.
  • Flexible and adaptable; ability to work effectively in ambiguous situations.
