Job Summary:
Red 6 is an innovative Augmented Reality (AR) technology startup leading the way in synthetic air combat training. As a Staff Software Test Engineer, you will lead the software test team, directing the design and development of test procedures, ensuring proper execution of verification tests, and contributing to evolving test processes and capabilities.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Transforms product requirements to create R&D, qualification and acceptance test plans for augmented reality software applications.
โ€ข Ability to troubleshoot software issues and Linux applications with logs, recreates, and code reviews.
โ€ข Perform manual and automated testing with Hardware In Loop (HIL).
โ€ข Interface directly with the software development team to quickly understand and react to new incoming functionality by developing corresponding test cases.
โ€ข Participate in flight briefs and debriefs to gather and provide valuable feedback on software performance and testing needs.
โ€ข Communicate test needs and requirements clearly to engineering teams regarding new functions and enhancements.
โ€ข Implement and advocate for industry best practices for software development and testing within the team.
โ€ข Lead, mentor, serve, and contribute as a technical resource for the testing team members with the following responsibilities:
โ€ข CI/CD testing frameworks and automation
โ€ข Regression testing strategies for daily and bi-weekly builds
โ€ข Hardware mocking and unit test development
โ€ข Functional and customer-driven flight testing
โ€ข Developing innovative ground-based test methods
โ€ข Supporting specific hardware assets
โ€ข Developing Test Tools and Protocols
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s degree in a STEM field.
โ€ข 6+ years of experience working in a software test lead capacity within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) for custom hardware in an Agile Scrum environment.
โ€ข Software development experience with C++ for applications with Hardware In Loop (HIL).
โ€ข Experience designing and constructing detailed test plans, procedures, and test cases.
โ€ข Strong hands-on experience with software test methodologies and tools such as TestComplete, Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Pytest, JIRA, Jenkins, or GitLab.
โ€ข Deep experience with integration and regression testing.
โ€ข Familiarity with white box, black box, and functional testing methods.
โ€ข 3+ years of applied experience testing within CI/CD pipelines and processes.
โ€ข 2+ years of experience with Linux-based software systems.
โ€ข Qualified candidates must have the ability to obtain a security clearance. This requires U.S. Citizenship.
Preferred:
โ€ข Python development experience.
โ€ข Experience testing web applications.
โ€ข Proven ability to construct fully automated test environments.
โ€ข Experience working with augmented/virtual reality systems.
โ€ข Previous work in a military or defense solutions environment.
โ€ข Familiarity with computer vision, 6 DoF tracking technologies, and wearable display systems.
