As an Augmentative Communication Specialist, your day often involves assessing individuals' communication needs, recommending and programming appropriate AAC devices, and providing training to users, families, and staff. You may collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including occupational therapists, educators, and IT staff to ensure each client receives comprehensive support. Regularly, you'll troubleshoot technical issues, update device vocabulary, and document client progress. This variety keeps the role dynamic and allows you to make a meaningful difference in each client’s ability to communicate effectively.
