CTL Engineering is hiring a Sr. Roadway Design Engineer!

CTL Engineering (www.ctleng.com) is an award winning, full service consulting engineering firm with (15) locations across OH, IN, WV, KY, NC, SC, and VA with a rich history over our (98) years in business. We provide civil/site design and land surveying, environmental, geotechnical, construction administration & inspection, accident reconstruction, roofing/building envelope, A/V system design, troubleshooting & installation, transportation design (bridge/roadway), and specialized testing services to the construction industry.

We are looking for experienced Roadway Engineers who will be involved in the full spectrum of roadway engineering projects - from conception through completion.

  • Your role will involve designing, analyzing, and evaluating roadways to ensure safety, functionality, and compliance with NCDOH standards and guidelines.
  • Youโ€™ll leverage your expertise in infrastructure design and creative problem-solving skills while collaborating closely with institutions/municipal agencies.
  • This position will use your experience to assist clients through our cross-functional team dynamic and company culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform analysis and design for various types of roadways, including new constructions, widening and rehabilitations.
  • Lead and oversee roadway design and analysis projects in accordance with NCDOT requirements.
  • Analyze traffic patterns to develop roadway design.
  • Review and approve design plans from subcontractors.
  • Coordinate with public and governmental agencies for project approvals.
  • Prepare and review technical engineering reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ensure projects adhere to budgetary and scheduling constraints.
  • Conduct field inspections and evaluations of existing roadway conditions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during construction.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior Engineers and staff.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of State DOT/DOH policies, guidelines, and industry best practices.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of civil and engineering principles, reporting, analysis and management of teams and projects.
  • Experience with ORD and plan development is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to manage and train others and be a team player.
  • Ability to be reliable and on time.
  • Must have a high level of professionalism, and comfortable with client interaction โ€“ have the ability to build relationships.
  • Be quality-minded and client-focused.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Civil Engineering or related field;
  • Masterโ€™s degree (MSCE) preferred but not required.
  • P.E. licensure in North Carolina is required
  • Extensive experience in roadway engineering, with a focus on NCDOT projects.
  • Strong knowledge of NCDOT design standards, specifications, and procedures.
  • Proficiency in roadway design software - Civil 3D, OpenRoad Designer, etc.
  • Familiarity with project management software such as MS Project is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
