This ensures that visually impaired audiences can fully understand and enjoy the content.

What are the most common challenges faced by professionals in audio description roles?

One common challenge in Audio Description roles is accurately and concisely conveying essential visual information without overlapping with key dialogue or sound effects. Professionals must also stay up to date with industry accessibility standards and adapt their descriptions for a wide range of media, from television shows to live events. Collaboration is frequent, as audio describers often work closely with producers, voice actors, and accessibility coordinators to deliver high-quality content. Overcoming these challenges requires continuous learning and a commitment to making content inclusive for all audiences.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the audio description position, and why are they important?

To excel in Audio Description, you need strong language skills, attention to detail, and an excellent understanding of visual media, along with relevant education in media studies or communications. HOME AUDIO REPAIR TECHNICIAN - Repair of HiFi Gear

Audiophiles & Music Lovers Wanted

Who we are

The Music Room is the world’s largest dedicated reseller of pre-owned HiFi Audio Gear. We are a team of music lovers who are dedicated to a singular mission: delivering the very best online shopping experience in the HiFi industry. We feel that there is nothing more fulfilling than creating a high-performance, 2-channel HiFi system on any budget with carefully selected used components, speakers and cables. Currently, we are seeking to add additional testers and repair technicians to our quality assurance team.

Job Description

The Music Room specializes in HOME AUDIO (not studio, live sound or pro gear), and we process components and speakers from a very wide array of brands and categories - spanning current to “vintage” technology.

REPAIR TECH: When our testers uncover an issue or other opportunities to bring the unit up to our high standards, the product generally needs to be seen by one of our qualified repair technicians. The repair tech is responsible for diagnosing, refurbishing and repairing equipment and documenting required details and updates in our ticketing system.

Job duties will include diagnosis and repair of high-end consumer audio equipment, such as amplifiers, speakers, turntables, streamers, tuners and more. Candidates must possess basic knowledge of electronics theory, including principles of voltage, current, Ohm's Law, and the essential functions of components such as resistors, capacitors and transistors. Candidates must also be familiar with the use of test equipment including multimeters and oscilloscopes to perform diagnosis to component level. Specific experience in repairing consumer HiFi audio equipment (or pro audio equivalents) required. Candidates must have experience with component-level troubleshooting of audio electronics as well as soldering.

The essential functions for REPAIR TECHS include, but are not limited to the following:

● Knowledge of amplifier circuitry and circuits

● Experience repairing consumer electronics (non-computer) and PCB soldering

● Evaluating units deemed in need of repair..

● Documenting all phases of the repair in the ticketing system

● Coordinating with customer facing teams and responding to questions as needed

● Ordering and maintaining parts inventory

● Getting creative, such as scavenging parts from aged-out or unrepairable equipment to facilitate repairs on other equipment

● Coordinating with team members to facilitate shipping and receiving repair items

● Managing inventory hygiene of repair backlog

Bringing new-school innovation into an “old-school” industry, we place a heavy emphasis on the implementation of new and emerging technologies.

We work standard weekday business hours, so that our employees can enjoy a sustainable work/life balance and pursue other hobbies and interests.

Core Values:

Innovation – DEFY THE GENRE – We are all about making some noise in our industry and doing things differently. We are: Experimental. Groundbreaking. Trailblazers. The HiFi Biz Remixed. We are always exploring and embracing change because we believe we can do it better.

Process – HIT ALL THE RIGHT NOTES – Every detail matters. We value: Fundamentals. Precision. Execution. Consistency. Everyone is playing from the same sheet of music. Our commitment to scalable processes is essential to achieving “standing ovations” from our customers.

Teamwork – NO SOLO ACTS – There’s no lead singer taking the spotlight here. No room for oversized egos. We see the best in each other. We are a smart, talented, tight-knit band where everyone plays their part, and we work in harmony to produce incredible outcomes.

Passion – STAY FOR THE ENCORE – We are passionate about what we do, and we stay connected to each other and our audience through music. We are not a clock-in/clock-out, “go through the motions” organization. We have fun, but we also care deeply about our work, and we are fueled by our passion to achieve excellence.

Authenticity – NO CHEESY COVER SONGS – We stay true to the music that moves us with original compositions, performed in High Fidelity-Unfiltered communication. Integrity. Truth. Leave the “Hotel California” renditions at home. Let’s make some original music that we can be proud of.
