Atlassian Implementation Developer


Smart Data Solutions, a leading provider of data management, claim routing and workflow solutions to health plans and TPAs, is looking for an Atlassian Implementation Developer to join our team!


What you’ll be doing?

  • Lead end-to-end internal implementation and configuration of Atlassian products including Jira Software, Jira Service Management (JSM), Confluence, and Jira Product Discovery.
  • Collaborate with internal business stakeholders to gather, document, and translate requirements into Jira workflows, schemas, and platform configurations.
  • Design and configure project schemas, issue types, workflows, screens, permission schemes, and notification schemes in Jira Software and JSM.
  • Build and configure JSM service desks including portals, SLA policies, request types, queues, automation rules, and knowledge base integrations.
  • Set up and maintain Confluence spaces including templates, macros, page hierarchies, and permissions to support internal team collaboration and documentation needs.
  • Implement and configure Jira Product Discovery boards, views, and roadmaps aligned to internal product strategy and stakeholder priorities.
  • Facilitate internal discovery workshops, requirements sessions, and solution walkthroughs with business teams.
  • Develop and maintain internal implementation documentation including solution design documents, configuration guides, and end-user training materials.
  • Coordinate with the offshore team member to divide implementation tasks, maintain delivery standards, and ensure consistent platform configurations.
  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert and escalation point for Atlassian platform questions and configuration decisions.
  • Evaluate and manage Atlassian Marketplace apps (e.g., ScriptRunner, BigPicture, Tempo, Assets) to support internal business needs.
  • Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives as part of the internal technology delivery team.
  • Support change management efforts including user training, communications, and adoption tracking for Atlassian tool rollouts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What we’re looking for?

Required skills:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience implementing and configuring Atlassian products (Jira Software, JSM, Confluence) in an enterprise or professional services environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Jira Software project configuration including classic and team-managed projects, workflows, custom fields, screens, and permission/notification schemes.
  • Demonstrated experience with Jira Service Management including portal configuration, SLA setup, request types, automation rules, and ITSM best practices.
  • Working knowledge of Confluence space administration, page templates, macros, and structured documentation design.
  • Familiarity with Jira Product Discovery for internal roadmap alignment and feature prioritization.
  • Ability to lead internal stakeholder workshops and clearly communicate technical configurations to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with Atlassian Marketplace apps and third-party integrations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Atlassian Certified Professional (ACP) certifications preferred (Jira Administration, JSM, or Confluence).
  • Experience with Atlassian Cloud migrations from Data Center or Server environments is a plus.
  • Familiarity with JQL, REST APIs, and basic scripting (Groovy/ScriptRunner) is a plus.
  • Understanding of agile delivery methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
