Job description

Small Mill Cutoff Operator - 3rd Shift - $29.89/hour plus $1.00/hour shift differential
Who we are looking for:
We are currently searching for a Small Mill Cutoff Operator to be based out of Harvey, IL, located approximately 30 miles south of Downtown Chicago. Reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor, the Small Mill Cutoff Operator will be responsible to operate the mill cutoff and monitor product quantity and quality.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, processing steel. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.
What you'll do:
  • Set up Tube Mill including consent monitoring of flying cut-off, deburr and packaging equipment.
  • Ensure quality based on specification provided with work order by performing regular quality utilizing tape measure, micrometer/caliper and visual inspections.
  • Complete inspection paperwork on time.
  • Operate packaging equipment or manual banding equipment.
  • Handling product to produce safe bundles for transport.
  • Required to conduct safety inspection of work area daily.
  • Fill out hourly reports.

  • Strong sense of time organization and sense of urgency, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to pass the post offer employment process with drug screen

Within 3 months, you'll:
  • Show progress and/or complete job specific training
  • Be well-versed in Atkore's Business System and the importance of your role to daily operations
  • Gain a basic understanding of required duties and job expectations.
