Job Description PRIMARY PURPOSE

The Executive Director of School Operations and Athletics, under the general supervision of the Chief Operations Officer and in coordination with the Chief Academic Officer, is responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring efficient and effective operational systems, policies, and procedures to ensure all campuses in the district achieve academic and operational success.

QUALIFICATIONS Education/Certifications
  • (a) Bachelorโ€™s Degree.
Knowledge & Skills
  • (a) Proficient in keyboarding, word processing, spreadsheets, and file maintenance.
  • (b) Ability to complete assignments with accuracy and meet established deadlines.
  • (c) Customer service oriented.
  • (d) Strong organizational, communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • (e) Excellent integrity and commitment to ethical practices.
Preferred Experience
  • (a) 3-4 years of campus administration experience.
  • (b) 1-2 years of related experience preferred.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

Other:

  • (a) Reliable means of transportation.
  • (b) Supports in monitoring the district and campus emergency operation plans and procedures, and ensures all such plans are followed uniformly across the district in collaboration with the COO and Safety Manager.
  • (c) Report to the COO on matters related to facilities/ maintenance, warehouse inventory, building and grounds, and transportation, and act as a liaison to other departments, campuses & agencies on these matters.
  • (d) Communicates, cooperates, and collaborates regularly with the Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, COO, Principals, and other appropriate staff about the needs, regulations, and procedures for the effective operation of facilities.
  • (e) Ensures all appropriate personnel are trained and supported on all safety and security measures applicable to the district or campus.
  • (f) Research and implement cost-efficient products, practices, and services to improve school operations.
  • (g) Proactively monitors campus building and grounds to ensure safety, security, and maintenance needs are assessed and handled in a timely fashion.
  • (h) Manage relationships with vendors/ partners renting school facilities.
  • (i) Ensures campus cleanliness by selecting, monitoring, and, if necessary, supervising campus-based cleaning crews.
  • (j) Works collaboratively with the COO in formulating and refining all campus operational policies, procedures, goals, and plans. (k) Works collaboratively with the COO to ensure that the district complies with all applicable state, federal, and local accountability and compliance measures related to school operations.
  • (l) Collaborates with a wide variety of personnel to ensure effective communication regarding the districtโ€™s external compliance and accountability performance related to school operations.
  • (m) Collaborates with the District Safety and Security Coordinator and assists with the hiring, training, and supervision of all security staff.
  • (n) Ensures all campus-based transportation needs are met in a timely, safe, and efficient manner.
  • (o) Works collaboratively with food service staff to ensure effective and efficient food service operations at the campus level.
Transportation
  • (a) Direct, optimize, and manage bus routes and schedules for all schools in the district and assist in developing a plan to meet future transportation needs.
  • (b) Assist in overseeing transportation for extracurricular activities and special programs.
  • (c) Respond to after-hours emergency calls as needed.
  • (d) Assist in monitoring the repair of all district-owned vehicles and oversee preventative maintenance.
  • (e) Monitor vehicle repair requests and work order prioritization. Contract for services that cannot be performed in the shop.
Athletics Program
  • (a) Administer and appraise the development and improvement of athletic programs, ensuring compliance with the district and other state/ federal regulations.
  • (b) Direct and manage the overall program of extracurricular athletics for the district.
  • (c) Establish overall operating standards for athletics and ensure alignment within the district.
  • (d) Manages all athletic operations, including employing game officials, preparing facilities, monitoring schedules, and transportation.
  • (e) Develops training options and/or improvement plan for employees to ensure exemplary operation in the area of athletics.
  • (f) Recruits, selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates all athletic department personnel and makes recommendations relative to assignment and retention.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to grasp, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
