Data Engineer
Bellevue, WA (Onsite)
15 month contract with possible extensions
$53-72/hr

ABOUT THIS FEATURED OPPORTUNITY
Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
• Implement logical and physical data models and ETL/ELT pipelines
• Build and maintain event-driven integration components - data pipelines, Lambda functions, Step Functions workflows - that feed notification systems, ticketing
workflows, and regulatory filing processes
• Implement backend services (APIs, workflow orchestrations, dashboard backends) following team architectural patterns and coding standards
• Write, test, and deploy production code that is well-written, maintainable, robust, secure, efficient, tested, and operable
• Implement data quality checks, validation, and monitoring per defined SLAs for compliance-critical datasets
• Extend existing services to support new compliance requirements, jurisdictions, or integration points as specified in design documents
• Build components that handle sensitive data with appropriate encryption, access controls, and audit trails
• Contribute to self-service analytics access through reporting tools, dashboards, and structured data products
• Maintain production systems with comprehensive monitoring, alarming, and logging
• Implement designs provided by engineering leads, raising technical concerns and proposing alternatives where appropriate
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, sprint ceremonies, and on-call rotations as needed
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
• 3+ years of data engineering experience, including data modeling, pipeline development, and data warehouse design
• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience building production services
• SQL skills and experience working with large, complex datasets
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or TypeScript with demonstrated ability to write production- quality code
• Experience with AWS services including data (Glue, Redshift, Athena) and compute/integration (Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, DynamoDB)
• Experience with the full software development lifecycle including testing, deployment, and operations
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience building event-driven architectures using Step Functions, EventBridge, SQS/SNS, or equivalent orchestration tools
• Experience with serverless development patterns on AWS (Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway)
• Experience with infrastructure as code (CDK, CloudFormation, or equivalent)
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance, telecommunications, or similarly complex multi- jurisdiction domains
