HealthFirst Bluegrass, a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), is seeking a Billing Specialist II to join our dedicated Revenue Cycle team!

What You’ll Do
You’ll support the Revenue Cycle Manager by making continuous improvements to our billing processes. Your work will be vital in ensuring we remain efficient, accurate, and patient-centered. Responsibilities include:

  • Working denial, eligibility, and collections worklists
  • Contacting payers, appealing denied claims, and addressing overpayments
  • Reviewing CPT/ICD-10 code usage and ensuring billing accuracy
  • Supporting self-pay accounts and patient education
  • Processing refunds and payments as needed
  • Providing backup support for the Billing Specialist I
  • Assisting with projects and contributing to overall revenue cycle improvements

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of experience in medical billing or insurance verification
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience with KY Medicaid and FQHC billing (preferred)
  • Familiarity with health insurance concepts, coding, and denial management
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort with billing systems like Athena
  • Athena Experience Preferred
