Job description

Position Overview To assist with the daily operations of the summer camp program under the direct supervision of Summer Camp Leaders. Job responsibilities include direct contact and supervision of children, while stimulating active participation. Position Functions Assist with the coordination of summer camp activities.

Carry out instructions promptly and efficiently. Supervise children ages 6 to 12. Display interest and enthusiasm to help encourage participation.

Provide ideas and suggestions for summer camp activities. Maintain attendance records, statistics and records, as assigned. Set up/break down program equipment.

Maintain program equipment and facilities, as assigned. Perform basic administrative tasks, including: filing, completing park forms, answering and/or placing phone calls, etc. Maintain a professional image to the public at all times.

Communicate effectively and demonstrate a professional demeanor to all City staff and the public at all times. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a high school graduate or currently enrolled in high school. An equivalent combination or education and/or training may be substituted.

Previous experience with recreational sports and/or activities. Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age. Ability to work in a group setting.

PREFERABLE QUALIFICATIONS: College graduate or currently enrolled in college. An equivalent combination of education and/or training may be substituted. Previous experience as a team athletics coach, sports specific instructor or educational teacher.

An equivalent combination of work experience in recreation may be substituted. Valid American Red Cross CPR/AED certification. Must obtain prior to the first day of working at Summer Camp.

Valid American Red Cross First Aid certification. Must obtain prior to the first day of working at Summer Camp. Supplemental Information Applicants will be required to complete a Disclosure & Authorization Regarding Background Investigation, a Confidentiality Agreement, a VECHS background screening to include clearance through DCF for the Summer.
