They perform services such as administering medications, drawing blood, giving vaccines, performing basic exams, and assisting with pet care education. This role helps reduce the stress for pets who may be anxious or uncomfortable in a traditional clinic setting. At-home vet techs often work with veterinarians to ensure comprehensive care and may also assist with end-of-life care or chronic disease management.

Familiarity with mobile veterinary equipment, electronic medical records, and safety protocols is crucial for delivering effective care in a home setting. Excellent communication, empathy, and problem-solving skills help build trust with pet owners and adapt to varied home environments. These skills ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality veterinary care while fostering positive client relationships outside of traditional clinical settings.
