RESIDENTIAL GROUP HOME MANAGER - MONTGOMERY, AL
Program: Alabama ID/DD Services
Position: Residential Group Home Manager
Reports to: Coordinator of Residential Services
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt - Full time
Pay Rate: Starting at $14.50 an hour
Work hours will include working some weekends
Function:
The Residential Group Home Manager is responsible for assisting individuals with intellectual disabilities to engage in activities to learn new skills, increase community participation, and develop natural supports. This position will assist individuals in participating in social, educational, and recreational activities, as well as assist with daily living skills as need. The Residential Manager will promote choice and provide supports and services as outlined in individual’s person-centered plan. They will strive to create a fun and enjoyable atmosphere to encourage active participation and satisfaction of services.
Qualifications:
The position requires a person twenty-one (21) years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED.
The position requires the ability to collaborate effectively with the individual receiving services, co-workers, team members, family members, related agencies, and others. Good rapport with all parties involved is critical to ensuring quality service delivery. The position also requires the ability to assist individuals in achieving their personal goals while promoting dignity and respect. The Residential Manager must have good time management skills to be able to support the needs of multiple people. The employee must possess good written and oral communication skills and a valid Alabama driver’s license. The Residential Manager must also be able to pass all required training courses including but not limited to First Aid, CPR, CPI and other trainings outlined in VOA Southeast’s Policies amp; Procedures.
Principal Activities:
  1. Oversee daily operation of residential services to include scheduling and supervising direct support staff, purchasing groceries and other supplies as needed.
  2. Coordinates and implements program activities for the residential group homes.
  3. Ensures compliance with ADMH residential services standards and VOA policies and procedures.
  4. Reviews MARs and medication inventories to ensure appropriate medication management which includes timely refills and any necessary arrangements with medical staff for new prescriptions.
  5. Provides staff coverage and direct service duties as needed
  6. Oversees the management of medical appointments and ensures that appropriate transportation arrangements are made.
  7. Completes necessary reports in a timely manner (i.e. vehicle and facility inspections). Reports vehicle or facility problems promptly.
  8. Monitors effective hand off communication at shift change.
  9. Takes calls from staff about emergencies or critical issues after normal work hours and on weekends as assigned.
  10. Monitors the implementation of the Person-Centered Plan and assist in accessing support needed to implement his Person-Centered Plan to achieve their personal outcomes.
  11. Ensures that the facility/house is well maintained, clean and in compliance with all life/safety requirements.
  12. Participates in discharge planning when an individual leaves services.
  13. Demonstrates the ability to recognize the elements of a crisis state and knows how to deescalate or resolve the situation.
  14. Effectively collaborates with the Person-Centered team members and outside sources in the delivery of services.
  15. Provides transportation to individuals as needed, observing applicable laws, safety procedures and policies.
  16. Oversees money management with individuals supported.
  17. Support and encourage individuals in exercising their rights and making their own choices.
  18. Report any suspicion of abuse, neglect, mistreatment, and exploitation and cooperate fully in any investigation.
  19. Complete all required training in compliance with VOA Southeast’s policies and procedures and regulatory agency requirements.
  20. Perform additional duties as assigned by your supervisor.
