Job Description:

Responsibilities

  • Models a service attitude towards others, takes ownership in solving problems and takes the initiative to make things better, is friendly and courteous to patients, families and co-workers

  • Perform all aspects of insurance verifications for the patients who are scheduled for Inpatient and Outpatient procedures and special radiology procedures

  • Obtain authorizations and pre-certifications as required for all procedures; work with clinical staff to obtain additional clinical information for benefit review

  • Request and secure referrals from Primary Care Physicians and Insurance companies

  • Analyze benefits for appropriate coverage for services

  • Capable of calling families to verify their information and insurance coverage

  • Provide clerical and administrative support as required

  • Assist with updating and maintaining current billing systems/software

  • Create reports for tracking and trending purposes

  • Cross-train with other positions in Patient Access to provide coverage and understand overall functions of department

  • Responsible for all correspondence from Insurance companies

Education / Requirements:

  • High School diploma required

  • Knowledge of health insurance procedures

  • Ability to relate positively, effectively and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other facility staff

  • Self-starter with aptitude for following through on details and resolving discrepancies

  • Ability to read, write and speak English
