Job Description/Responsibilities: ATN Health is currently seeking a Linux Systems Engineer to join our growing VOIP department. With our unmanaged and managed Hosted Phone Systems, the right candidate would primarily be providing support for our FreePBX along with helping support our Asterisk and other related VOIP platforms.
This Linux Systems Engineer will be responsible for the following:
  • Answer help desk phone calls & emails from end users and system administrators with regards to the operation of FreePBX, and other related software
  • Perform initial diagnostic evaluation, address technical issues, and provide end user education and instruction
  • Troubleshoot phone features and application issues
  • Resolve issues within the scope and control of the service offering
  • Provide guidance to end users in procedures and policy for the administration and security of both the endpoint and the server
  • Refer issues that are not remotely solvable by the help desk technician to the appropriate team resource for resolution
  • Track status, inform, and escalate tickets as necessary to ensure compliance to all service level agreements (SLAs) and expectations of Client
  • Provide prompt and accurate services with regards to status of Incident or Change requests to our customers
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation with peers
  • Work on technical projects, working with staff and vendors to gather requirements, scope technical efforts, determine solutions, setup project tasks/plans, and implement those solutions
  • Lead VOIP projects from initial conversations to final completion
  • Prepare design specification plans as per customer requirement and provide appropriate enterprise solutions for architecture

Job Requirements:
  • 3+ years as a Linux Systems or VOIP Administrator
  • MUST have experience with Asterisk, FreePBX, and/or other VOIP platforms
  • Should Have experience with Apache, CentOS, DNS, hosted services, MySQL
  • Background in IT or in a Data Center environment
  • System Monitoring and Automation
  • Good knowledge of network design - Working with Firewalls, DNS, Load Balancers
  • Strong sense for security - both internally and on the hosting systems
  • Experience maintaining massive amounts of storage including backup systems
  • Advanced Linux System Administration, Configuration, and System Security
  • Advanced systems troubleshooting skills
  • Prefer some programming experience (particularly Perl, PHP, HTML, MySQL)
  • Prior experience in software as service architectures (SaaS)
  • Experience working with an On Demand company
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently and well on a team
  • Creative thinking and ability to 'think outside the box' are ESSENTIAL
  • Well organized, attentive to details, and able to meet demanding deadlines
  • Understanding of principles of voice and data communications
  • General telephony understanding
  • Understanding of VOIP platforms
  • Configuring various VOIP Phones and iOS/Android Smart Phones
  • Knowledgeable in IP Telephony, unified communications, data networking, telecommunications, video technologies and Call Center
  • Experience working with any/all VoIP and TDM based systems including but not limited to: Cisco Communications Manager, Avaya, Nortel, NEC, Shortel, Siemens
  • Experience working with TCP/UDP, SIP, RTP/RTCP or other multimedia network protocols

Job Desirables (Preferred):
  • 4 year degree from accredited college/university or equivalent real world experience
  • A+, CCNA, MCP, Linux Certifications, etc.
  • Web Hosting and ISP experience
  • Mac Experience
  • Experience and/or certifications for FreePBX, 3CX, Sangoma, Zultys products
  • ESI and/or Toshiba experience a plus
  • Ubiquiti/Cisco/Fortigate firewalls, switches, access points, and controllers
  • Collaboration tools such as Slack or Microsoft Teams
