Role Summary

The Assistant Project Manager assists with field production operations for the Commercial Walls & Ceilings team, ensuring multiple commercial projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with budget, schedule, and quality standards. Serving as support to the field and executive leadership, this role is responsible for assisting with workforce planning, labor productivity, and overall operational performance, requiring strong leadership, manpower forecasting ability, and the operational insight to keep projects on track while upholding Higgins Group's quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides support with daily production activities across multiple commercial projects
  • Assists the Project Manager to align labor, materials, and equipment
  • Monitor job progress and proactively address production delays
  • Conduct regular job site visits and field audits
  • Assist with hiring, performance evaluations, and corrective coaching
  • Manage labor budgets for projects
  • Monitor productivity, hours, and production rates
  • Identify cost risks early and implement corrective actions
  • Work closely with leadership to maintain profitability
  • Review blueprints, schedule, specifications, and scope requirements
  • Enforce company and OSHA safety standards

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years commercial drywall and metal stud framing construction experience
  • Superintendent or foreman management experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of commercial blueprints, management software and estimating
  • Out-of-town travel as required
