Job description

Who We Are
At Very Law, our mission is simple: to help people when they need it most. That same commitment extends to our team. We've built a modern, paperless workspace with top-of-the-line tools so you can focus on practicing law - not managing inefficiencies. You'll find a collegial environment where collaboration is encouraged, but your autonomy and judgment are trusted. For more information, visit our website: www.verylaw.com
About the Role
Our sophisticated downtown Pittsburgh law firm is seeking a Pennsylvania-licensed Associate Attorney. This is a foundational role in the success of our firm, and we take the hiring of our associates seriously. The ideal candidate has the drive to take an active role in our robust training program to ultimately be the owner of their practice and deliver exceptional results for clients. This is an opportunity for an attorney who is looking for a firm where culture, teamwork, and balance matter as much as success in the courtroom.
If you're ready to build lasting client relationships and practice law in an environment where you're both supported and respected, we'd love to meet you.
What We Offer
  • Achievable billable hour requirement
  • Gym membership
  • Convenient, 24/7, paid garage parking
  • Generous paid time off and holidays including a winter break between Christmas and New Years Day
  • Private window office in the prestigious Frick Building
  • All-expense-paid Bench Bar Conference
  • Quarterly professional development events with distinguished speakers
  • Monthly happy hours
  • Associate career ladder
  • Competitive salary with quarterly bonuses
  • Health insurance with low deductible
  • 401k matching and profit-sharing
  • Dental, vision, life, and short and long-term disability insurance
  • Local, state, and national trade association memberships
  • CLE and attorney registration
  • Three-person support staff

What You'll Be Doing
  • Manage a caseload from intake to resolution across multiple practice areas under the supervision of the owner of the firm
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for your clients, advocating for them zealously, and advising them with honesty and empathy
  • Develop and execute case strategies based on sound legal research and analysis
  • Represent clients in court proceedings
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support staff without unnecessary hierarchy
  • Participate in marketing and networking opportunities that align with your practice goals

What We're Looking For
  • Minimum 1 year experience privately practicing litigation
  • Pennsylvania law license
  • Bachelor's Degree and Juris Doctorate
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Westlaw
  • Strong communication skills - with clients, colleagues, and courts
  • A tenacious advocate with a practical, solutions-focused approach and a positive attitude

Why Join Us?
We know that talented attorneys have options. At Very Law, we offer a place where you can do meaningful work, grow at your own pace, and feel good about the team you are part of. Here, you'll gain hands-on experience and courtroom opportunities, but in an environment that values balance, respect, and professional fulfillment.
Candidates are encouraged to apply early as applications are being considered on a rolling basis. All applications will be kept confidential except to references.
Very Law is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity, or veteran status.
