Job description

Join a team where engineering innovation and customer-focused design drive customized product solutions. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys collaborating with Sales, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams to develop practical, manufacturable designs that meet unique customer requirements.


As a Design Engineer you will support product platforms and engineering initiatives by providing detailed sales and system application support, developing customized solutions, and ensuring designs align with customer needs, manufacturing capabilities, and industry standards.


Duties:
Including but not limited to:

  • Review customer and sales design specifications to evaluate product requirements and application feasibility.
    Collaborate with Sales and customers to identify solutions that meet technical and performance requirements.
  • Prepare detailed component, product, layout, and schematic drawings using SolidWorks and
  • AutoCAD/DraftsSight.
  • Develop customized design proposals and drawing packages for quotations and engineered solutions.
  • Analyze product and equipment specifications to create designs that can be manufactured using existing processes and facilities.
  • Modify existing designs and application files as needed to meet customer requirements.
  • Process and support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for assigned product lines.
  • Conduct design review meetings with Sales, Manufacturing, and Quality personnel for engineered products and special applications.
  • Initiate test requests, analyze test results, and implement appropriate design improvements or corrective actions.
  • Investigate design challenges and collaborate with Engineering personnel to develop effective solutions.
  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing operations and assist with shop floor troubleshooting as needed.
  • Support corrective action investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of permanent corrective actions.
  • Perform on-site inspections and assist with commissioning activities.
  • Interpret and apply regulatory codes and standards, including UL, NEC, and NFPA requirements.
  • Correct design errors or omissions promptly and identify opportunities to prevent recurring issues.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of assigned products and applications.
  • Support quality and environmental health and safety initiatives.
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to design team members.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical design aptitude with the ability to develop practical, manufacturable solutions.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD 2018 or newer and SolidWorks.
  • Understanding of mobile electrification systems for industrial and commercial applications.
  • Ability to analyze technical specifications and performance requirements to develop effective designs.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively document and discuss technical requirements with sales teams and customers.
  • Ability to collaborate across Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, and Quality functions.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and regulatory requirements.


Education & Experience:

  • Associate degree in Mechanical Design, Electrical Design, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • One year of related engineering, design, or application engineering experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
