Job description

Wealth Planning Strategist
The Wealth Planning Strategist (WPS) delivers sophisticated financial, estate and tax planning advisory services to TIAA's highest net worth and most influential clients. The WPS provides thoughtful, appropriate educational guidance for the client's situation aimed at securing the client's confidence and financial services business. Individuals in this position are key relationship partners to Wealth Management Advisors, by developing and enhancing client relationships through frequent contact with all interested parties and by serving as an expert resource on estate and tax planning strategies directed to high-net-worth individuals. The Wealth Planning Strategist contributes to the broader organization by providing subject matter expertise through internal and external training and education, and the development of written collateral.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Understands a client's financial situation and personal circumstances, while providing thoughtful, appropriate wealth transfer, estate and tax planning guidance for the client's situation aimed at securing the client's confidence and financial services business.
  • Assists wealth management partners with the delivery of seminar presentations to clients regarding financial, estate and tax planning strategies.
  • Assists with the writing or editing of tax or planning articles for various TIAA publications.
  • Conducts financial, estate and income tax analysis, assessment and presentations to high net worth clients and to other internal Wealth Management/Trust areas.
  • Understands features and benefits of TIAA's products and investment strategies and Stays current on existing and changing regulations and legislative rulings governing product offerings and legal and tax implications of investment decisions and strategies.
  • Serves as an expert resource for Wealth Management partners on client estate and tax planning strategies directed to high net worth individuals.
  • Assists in training of Wealth Management, Trust Company and other segments of the company on sophisticated planning topics and on client relationship development plans that are focused on asset retention and account growth.
