Job description

Main Function:

Participates in providing medical leadership and direction in the operation and expansion of the Occupational Health programs. Responsible for the medical care rendered to patients. Participates in the development and implementation of Occupational Health programs and medical services. 

Responsibilities:

    • Communicates with medical, nursing and associate staff to accomplish departmental goals and objectives.
    • Leadership of all areas of Occupational Medicine practice operations, unifying clinicians and staff toward shared goals.
    • Promotes effective utilization of resources to maximize departmental function and performance.
    • The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to collect data relative to the patients’ status and age, and tailor patient care relative to age-specific needs.
    • Fosters educational opportunities, staff selection and hiring, coaching and professional discipline. Leads providers in development and performance of efficient, quality focused office practices.
    • Responsible for assuring overall quality, safety, customer satisfaction and clinical practice within the service areas of responsibility.
    • Monitors and assures compliance with departmental policies and procedures as well as outside regulatory requirements.
    • Monitors and assures meeting budgeted financial plans for areas of responsibility.
    • Liaisons with Hospital senior management on behalf of the providers. Liaisons with providers on behalf of senior management. 
    • Performs clinical supervision of medical staff. Provides significant input into annual performance appraisal.  Meets with associate and Director to give formal feedback to associate.
    • Actively guards the confidentiality of sensitive information including but not limited to the patients, staff and the health system.
    • Demonstrates flexibility and innovation in meeting patient and practice needs.
    • Serves as an effective negotiator and problem solver.
    • Assesses patient needs based on age, functional status, and clinical complexity.
    • Trains and oversees clinical orientation for newly hired providers. Assesses competencies, identifies learning needs and works with provider to remedy deficiencies.
    • Lives the CARES values at all times (Commitment Action Respect Excellence & Service)

Hours: Part Time, Day Shift, 0.6 FTE

Education:

  • MD or DO degree required.
  • Training in pediatric, primary care or preventative care.
  • CME coursework related to physician leadership strongly preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Prior administrative experience preferred. Required MD license from New York State.
  • Required DEA certificate.
  • Board certified in occupational medicine.
  • MRO Certification.
  • Occupational medicine experience
  • Prior administrative/supervisory responsibility preferred

Pay Range: $130,000-165,000/year based on experience
