Description

The Director of Software Engineering is responsible for leading and managing PRIME Health Services' software engineering teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, and secure product enhancements. This role has direct accountability for the performance, productivity, and delivery outcomes of Application Developers across Associate, Specialist, and Senior levels.


This position operates at the intersection of Product, Engineering, Architecture, and Delivery, ensuring that business requirements and architectural designs are translated into efficient, reliable, and timely software solutions. This role partners closely with Agile Delivery Management to ensure predictable execution while maintaining ownership of engineering output, technical quality, and team performance.


Essential Job Functions

  • Leads and manages teams of Application Developers, providing coaching, mentorship, and performance management to drive high engagement and productivity
  • Owns the successful delivery of software product enhancements and development initiatives aligned to organizational priorities
  • Translates business requirements and architectural designs into actionable engineering plans and executable work
  • Ensures development teams consistently meet sprint commitments and deliver high-quality, reliable software solutions
  • Partners with Agile Delivery Management to ensure alignment between sprint planning, capacity, and actual execution outcomes
  • Establishes and enforces engineering best practices including coding standards, code reviews, testing, and secure development practices
  • Works closely with Enterprise Architecture to ensure solutions align with architectural standards, scalability, and long-term strategy
  • Manages allocation of development resources across projects to optimize productivity and delivery outcomes
  • Identifies, removes, and escalates technical and operational impediments
  • Drives continuous improvement in development processes, team efficiency, and product quality
  • Monitors engineering performance metrics including throughput, quality, and predictability
  • Partners with Product, Business, and IT leadership to align priorities
  • Leads recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies
  • Ensures compliance with cybersecurity and healthcare technology standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or related field required; Master's preferred
  • 7+ years of software development experience
  • 5+ years managing development teams
  • Experience leading enterprise applications, preferably healthcare
  • Strong knowledge of .NET and distributed architectures
  • Experience working in Agile environments
