As a Structural Detailer II, you will be responsible for creating intricate, accurate structural drawings for bridges and other critical highway structures. Using computer-aided drafting software creates accurate and complete structural details by referencing engineering computations, utilizing engineering theory, reviewing project-specific data, and following proper detailing procedures and office standards Obtains records and information for use in structural details. Verifies and makes corrections and additions to structural details Calculates estimated quantities of materials required for contract bidding, construction, and project costs Communicate with designers to ensure structural drawings comply with engineering computations Recommends minor adjustments in design to achieve simplicity and constructability Utilizes trigonometry, algebra, and geometry to calculate reinforcing steel lengths and laps, girder piece lengths, cross-frame lengths, gusset plate dimensions, etc.

Participates in the review of drafting standards Participates in technician meetings to review detailing standards Qualifications KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of drafting principles, practices, standards, and office policies that relate to structural detailing Understanding of the practical applications of algebra, trigonometry, and geometry Skilled in the use of computer-aided design and drafting software (Microstation and AutoCAD), word processing (Word or WordPerfect), and spreadsheet (Excel or Quattro Pro) computer applications Ability to produce clean, legible, and organized work Ability to give attention to details and work under pressure Ability to work well with others MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Associate's Degree (typically in Physical Science) Experience: 0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Transportation) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Design Assistant OR Education & Experience Substitution: 2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Transportation) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Design Assistant Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None Necessary Special Requirements PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: This position takes place in an average work environment.
