Wealth and Advice Solutions Technology (WAS Tech) is an organization within Schwab Technology Services aligned to support the technology needs of Wealth and Advice Solutions (WAS) business which is a growth area for Schwab.
This Associate, Software Development and Engineering position within WAS Tech reports directly to the Senior Manager, Wealth and Advice Solutions Technology.  This role will support the future growth of the WAS Tech business. As a recent graduate with limited hands-on experience, you will join one or more WAS Tech Software Engineering delivery teams and assist them to achieve consistent, predictable, high-quality delivery by implementing best practices, tools, metrics, automation frameworks, and oversight in the areas of software development and testing. You will deliver high-quality solutions that meet business objectives in a flexible, collaborative, and rapidly changing environment.

You will play a critical role in supporting key stakeholders across the WAS Tech organization which is focused on high-net worth and ultra-high net worth retail investors. You will be working with a team of talented and highly motivated technologists that strive to make technology a strategic differentiator for Schwab’s WAS Tech business and their clients.

We are seeking a motivated software engineer to deliver exceptional solutions for the high-net worth and ultra-high net worth retail investors. The role incorporates aspects of software engineering, business analysis, quality assurance, and production support to effectively support these customers. The role will require a high level of responsibility and accountability to deliver technical solutions to maintain the resilience of our applications.

 

What you’ll do

  • Support routine troubleshooting and maintenance to minimize user disruption
  • Contribute to QA testing by supporting compliance verification and acceptance validation
  • Assist in analyzing, organizing, and validating requirements with the Product Owners
  • Assist with software design using predictive and adaptive techniques
  • Contribute to the development and testing of software components using java and applying established standards.
  • Assist in applying system design concepts for cloud compatibility
  • Set achievable goals, tracks performance, and resolves issues with standard procedures
  • Follow quality standards to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Convey written ideas clearly, adapting style for each audience

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering with enterprise experience with listed technical skills.
  • Programming experience with JAVA with insights into Scripting and Automation.
  • Experience with DevOps Tools - Bamboo, Bitbucket GitHub, familiarity with CICD pipelines and Agile methodologies.
  • Relational database experience preferably with Postgres.
  • Knowledge of Cloud Platforms preferably with expertise in GCP, AWS, or Azure.
  • Receptive, approachable teammate, with the ability to positively interact with Team members.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve issues quickly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Spring Batch and Spring Boot.
  • Experience with monitoring tools - Splunk, AppDynamics, Grafana.
  • Experience with Confluence and Jira.
  • Experience with agile methodologies and ceremonies.
