Job description

Objective

We are seeking a talented and experienced BIM (Building Information Modeling) Designer to join our team as a crucial member of our Virtual Design & Construction Team. As a BIM Designer, you will be responsible for creating detailed and accurate 3D models and drawings for mechanical systems in construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the plumbing and piping trade or a related field, proficiency in BIM software, and excellent attention to detail.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Develop detailed 3D models of mechanical systems including plumbing, piping, and other related components using BIM software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD MEP).

· Coordinate and collaborate with architects, engineers, project managers and other stakeholders to ensure accurate representation of mechanical systems within the overall building design.

· Produce high-quality construction drawings, shop drawings, and fabrication drawings based on BIM models.

· Perform clash detection analysis to identify and resolve conflicts between mechanical systems and other building elements.

· Generate quantity take-offs and material schedules from BIM models to support project estimation and procurement processes.

· Stay updated on industry standards, best practices, and technological advancements in BIM software and related tools.

· Interpret and understand architectural and engineering drawings

· Produce the following types of drawings: Coordinated Installation Drawings, Spool & Fabrication Drawings, Total Station Point Exports, Hanger Drawings, Wall & Sleeve Penetration Drawings, Bill of Materials

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Strong understanding of mechanical systems and components used in building construction

· Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues in BIM models.

· Familiarity with construction industry standards and codes.

· Working knowledge of Basic AutoCAD

· AutodEsk Fabrication CADMep, Navisworks Manage, and Revit are a plus

· Strong written and oral communication skills

· Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities

· Ability to manage multiple tasks to meet project deadlines

· Attention to detail and accuracy

Work Environment Considerations

· Must be able to work in high pressure situations facing strict deadlines

· Most time will be in the office, but some trips to job sites and customer locations are required

· Must be familiar with job site safety requirements and be prepared to wear a hard hat, work boots and safety glasses at potentially dangerous job sites

Qualifications and Education Requirements

· Piping and Plumbing trade experience is preferred

· 5 or more years of experience designing plumbing and piping systems

· Associates Degree in Drafting Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent is a plus
