As part of our Software Engineering Group, you will be working with globally distributed teams, including business representatives, business analysts, architects, and engineers to plan, design, develop, test, and implement solutions. As a Senior Guidewire PolicyCenter Developer, you will be responsible for the design, configuration, and development of PolicyCenter solutions that support Aviva's core policy lifecycle. You will play a key role in our Guidewire Cloud transformation, leveraging Guidewire Cloud capabilities to deliver scalable, reliable, and customercentric insurance solutions.

What you'll do

  • Build architectural diagrams / design documents.

  • Write programs, configure / package / deploy software.

  • Perform peer code reviews.

  • Collaborate with business partners to understand requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.

  • Design and implement integrations with external systems.

  • Ensure standard methodologies are followed in code development, testing, and deployment.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Manage the technical aspects of Guidewire upgrades and patches.

  • Resolve and address complex technical issues promptly.

  • Monitor system performance and recommend improvements to enhance functionality.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other related fields, or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years proven experience in Guidewire PolicyCenter Development.

  • Expertise in GOSU Language, configuration and coding using Guidewire tools and accelerators, Guidewire Batch, and Guidewire predefined plugins.

  • Read code in other languages and reverse engineer products.

  • Agile software development, including the use of Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Jira, Confluence, etc.

  • Domain knowledge on Property & Casualty Insurance

  • 5+ years of Guidewire development experience.

  • 5+ years of experience coding RESTful APIs.

  • 5+ years of experience with coding in multiple programming languages such as C#, Java, Python, etc.

  • Expertise in the end-to-end design and development of business database applications.

  • Experience building modern web applications and designing Web APIs with REST/JSON.

  • In-depth understanding of design thinking and customer-centric development.


Must have:

  • Guidewire Associate Certification.

  • Hands-on Guidewire PolicyCenter experience.

  • Experience working on Guidewire Cloud.

  • Deep experience across core PolicyCenter functional areas, including Policy lifecycle (Submission, Quote, Bind, Issuance, Endorsement, Rewrite, Cancellation, Renewal), Job configuration and workflows, outofsequence processing and prerenewal directions.

  • Proven experience with PolicyCenter product model configuration: Coverages, exclusions, modifiers, rulesets, and availability rules.

  • Strong expertise in PolicyCenter business rules: Underwriting rules, Validation rules, Prequote / postquote rules.

  • Handson experience configuring PolicyCenter UI and screens, including PC configuration layers, Display keys, page layouts and widgets.

  • Familiarity with Guidewire Cloud Tools: TeamCity, Bitbucket, DataDog, Guidewire Home.

  • Understanding Guidewire Messaging Engine: Message Queues, Message Transports, Plugins.

  • The salary band for this position ranges from $110,000 to $130,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
